ZRĆE BEACH FESTIVALS & EVENTS ISLAND PAG

At first glance, the island of Pag is rocky, rugged, bordered by the sky-blue sea, located under the wing of the Velebit mountain. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge. It is often called the "island of stone" or the "island of the moon" because of the surface that offers a somewhat unusual landscape of stone with so many different shapes that only nature can make and occupy such an island area. NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE LAKES

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and largest national park of the Republic of Croatia. With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers, so it was declared the first national park in Croatia back in 1949. The process of sedimentation, which forms travertine barriers and creates lakes, represents a unique universal value. The Plitvice Lakes received international recognition in 1979 by being included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The lake system of the Plitvice Lakes consists of 16 named and numerous smaller, cascaded lakes. Geological background and characteristic hydrogeological conditions divide the lake system into Upper and Lower lakes. The upper lakes were formed on impermeable dolomites, they are more spacious, more indented and have gentler shores compared to the lower lakes, which were formed in a permeable limestone substrate, cut into a narrow canyon of steep slopes. The Plitvice Lakes system ends with the imposing waterfalls Sastavci, below which the Korana River begins.

NATIONAL PARK NORTH VELEBIT

The landscape of the Northern Velebit National Park is characterized by a recognizable karst relief, which, due to the diversity, abundance and development of karst forms, is one of the most interesting karst parts of the world, and includes several previously protected areas. Hips, beams, towers, pillars, dips, scarp, caves, pits are just some of the karst forms that give the area perfection in diversity, harmony and beauty. The Velebit mountain is a natural border between continental and Mediterranean Croatia, maritime and continental climates collide in its peak, which causes unpredictable weather conditions, so the meteorological station at Zavižan is of great importance. Northern Velebit is an ideal destination for all those who prefer active rest and recreation in untouched nature with a feeling of primeval wilderness. Over 30 hiking trails are available, marked with markings. Of particular note is the Premužić Trail, a masterpiece of construction, built in stone - drywall, and laid out in a very simple way that leads us to the harshest and most rugged parts of northern Velebit - Hajdučka and Rožanska kukovi. The trail does not have difficult climbs, so it is also suitable for visitors who are not used to hiking. The existing hiking trails and roads are also suitable for other activities such as trekking and hiking. A network of partly macadam, partly asphalted roads passes through the park and around it, which can be excellent for cycling and bicycle tours around Velebit. Velebit House is a visitor and information center where you can learn more about the climate, species and habitats, cultural heritage, geology and underground of North Velebit.
